How to scan a QR code with your camera
Press Allow when the browser asks for camera permission, then hold the code inside the square frame. QRKit Tools detects it automatically — there is no shutter button to press.
The decoded result appears in a card at the bottom of the screen. Copy it to the clipboard, or press Open when the code contains a link.
Nothing is installed and no account is needed. The camera is used only while the scanner is on screen.
Which codes can it read?
QR codes, plus the common 1D and 2D symbologies: Aztec, Data Matrix, PDF417, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF-14 and Codabar.
That covers retail product barcodes, shipping labels, boarding passes, event tickets, Wi-Fi QR codes and inventory tags.
Scanning and your privacy
The camera feed is processed on your device to find a code. Frames are never uploaded, and the content of a scanned code is never sent to a server or included in an analytics event.
In the QRKit Tools app, scanned results are kept in a history list stored locally on your device, which you can clear at any time.
Always read a scanned link before opening it. A QR code can encode any URL, and the code itself gives no clue where it leads.
If the browser scanner will not start
Camera access requires a secure connection, so open https://qrkit.tools rather than an http address.
Check that camera permission is not blocked for the site in your browser settings, and close other apps or tabs that may be holding the camera.
On Android you can also install the QRKit Tools app from Google Play, which scans with the native camera and keeps a local history.

Why does the scanner ask for camera permission?
Reading a code requires a live camera feed. Permission is requested only when you open the scanner, and the feed is used solely to detect codes.
The scanner will not start — what should I check?
Browsers only allow camera access over HTTPS, so use https://qrkit.tools. Check that the site is not blocked in your browser camera settings, and that no other app is holding the camera. On Android you can also use the QRKit Tools app from Google Play.
