EAN-13 is the 13-digit retail standard used on consumer products worldwide. Use it when items need to scan at a point-of-sale system. The number itself must be assigned to you by GS1; QRKit Tools renders the barcode but does not issue product numbers.

If you are not selling through retail checkouts, Code 128 is almost always the right choice.

Keep the quiet zone: leave clear white space either side of the bars, roughly ten times the width of the narrowest bar.

Print in black on white at the largest size the label allows, avoid stretching the image non-proportionally, and never place a barcode over a patterned background.
